STMA Knights Girls Basketball Coaches

Get to know the coaches

This is Coach Hamre's twenty second season with the Knights, his nineteenth as the Head Coach. During Coach Hamre’s tenure, the Knights have a record of 406 - 118, 11 state tournament trips: 2006 - 4th place; 2009 State Champs; 2015 3rd place; 2020 3rd place; 2022 2nd place; 2023 State Champs.  They also made the state tournament in: 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2016. In 2009, 2015, and 2023 Hamre was voted Minnesota State Coach of the Year. In 2019 Hamre was inducted into the Minnesota Girls Basketball Coaches Association Hall Of Fame.  Hamre grew up in the small northwestern town of Erskine (graduating class of 19 students). While in high school Hamre participated in Football and Basketball he graduated from there in 1983. After high school Hamre went on to play one year of junior college basketball at Northland Community College in Thief River Falls, MN, before graduating from Moorhead State. Coach Hamre teaches Physical Education at STMA Middle School West. When coach Hamre isn’t in the gym he likes to spend his spare time on the golf course, time with grandkids, walking his dog and listening to podcasts.  He lives in Albertville with his wife (Angie) and has two daughters Brooke (30) lives in Annandale and Tori (27) lives in Otsego.  Also two grandchildren, Grace (3) and Millie (2)  and a dog Gabbee. Plus two grandkids due in January.

Coach Lahr has been Hamre’s assistant for all of his nineteen years as a head coach for the Knights! In addition to coaching, she teaches Physical Education and Health at the STMA High School. She grew up in Hallock, MN, before going to Concordia College in Moorhead, MN where she played college basketball. After graduation she was the JV basketball coach at Concordia for 3 years, while also a graduate teaching assistant at NDSU. She has a B.A in Exercise Science, K-12 PE/Health teaching license, Master’s in Physical Education, and her Administrative license. She and her husband, Corey (who is the principal at St. Michael Elementary) have three sons; Thomas (9th) joined Coach Lahr at the High School this year, Elliot (7th grade), and Graham (4th grade). Spending time with family and friends, trying new recipes, bonfires, movie nights at home, and watching her boys do the activities they love are a few of Coach Lahr’s favorite things to do!

Coach Cleveland has been coaching in the Knights girls’ basketball program for 15 years. At STMA Middle School East, he teaches 6th grade Computer and Keyboarding courses. Outside of the basketball season he also coaches middle school cross country. Before coming to STMA, Andy taught Business Ed and coached basketball at Zimmerman High School. He graduated from Minnesota State, Mankato with a degree in Business Education and has earned his Master’s degree in Educational Technology and Educational Leadership License. When not teaching and coaching, Coach Cleveland likes to travel, run, hunt, fish, and spend time with his wife, Laura, and daughters, Reese (13) and Riley (11).

Coach Walters has been coaching in the Knights girls’ basketball program for 5 years. She teaches 5th grade Physical Education and DAPE at STMA Middle School East. Prior to coming to STMA she was the Head Coach at Litchfield High School three seasons. She was also an assistant coach at the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND for 2 years while completing her Master’s in Physical Education. She played college basketball for 4 years at Bemidji State University. Coach Walters enjoys running, traveling and spending time with her husband, Mason and two sons, Maverik (6) and Rhett (4) and their dog, Aspen. 

Coach Bebo has been on the STMA staff for 12 years.  Bebo is a Monticello graduate where he played football, basketball, and baseball. Jeff owns his own business in Elk River and lives in Rogers.  Jeff has one daughter Makenzie who teaches and coaches in Minnewaska.  Jeff likes to be busy whether it's working, or time at the cabin but his favorite thing to do is spend time with his granddaughter, Theo. Jeff also has a dog, Ozzie. 

Coach Anderson will be returning for her third season as the 9th grade coach. Anderson was a graduate of STMA in 17’ where she was a three sport athlete and attended 3 state tournaments with the girls basketball team. Outside of coaching, Anderson is a certified personal trainer and spends her mornings helping others reach their fitness goals.Coach Anderson is married to Philip and together they have two children, Flynn (2) and Mable (4 months).  In her spare time, Anderson can be found playing outside with her kids, working out, attending concerts and sporting events with friends, and cooking fun meals for her family.
